ClinTrialFinder is a clinical trial search tool. We are committed to transparency about how your data is handled. This policy explains what data we collect, how it is used, and your rights.

What Data We Collect

When you use ClinTrialFinder, we collect:

• Condition description text — the text you enter describing your medical condition, used to search and rank clinical trials relevant to your situation
• Email address (optional) — if you choose to provide your email, we use it solely to notify you when your results are ready. We send one notification email per search and do not use your email for marketing or any other purpose
• Anonymous session cookie — a randomly generated identifier (not linked to your identity) used solely to track your task progress
• Server access logs — IP addresses and pages visited, retained for security and rate limiting purposes

What Data We Do NOT Collect

We do not use third-party analytics or tracking tools.

How Your Data Is Used

The condition description you submit is used solely to find and rank clinical trials relevant to your situation. To do this, your text is sent to OpenAI for processing — to extract your medical conditions, evaluate trial eligibility, and generate suitability scores.

OpenAI may retain data according to their privacy policy. We encourage you to review OpenAI's Privacy Policy.

Data Retention

• Search results — stored on the server to allow you to view your results.
• Application logs — your input, extracted disease names, and processing details may be written to log files for operational and debugging purposes.
• Temporary files — intermediate processing files are created on disk during analysis and may persist until server cleanup.

Cookies

We use a single cookie:

• session_id — an anonymous, randomly generated identifier with a 30-day expiry. It is used solely to associate you with your in-progress or completed task so you can return to view results. It contains no personal information.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, share, or distribute your data to any party beyond the third-party AI services (OpenAI and Perplexity AI) required to process your request. No advertising, marketing, or profiling takes place.

Children's Privacy

ClinTrialFinder is not directed at individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
